ARTEK BREAKING BOUNDARIES
Sponsor of the 53rd International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia
Artek realises part of the furniture and furnishings for the premises of Palazzo delle Esposizioni della Biennale, which is currently under requalification. The assignment includes a bookshop, a cafeteria and additional furniture elements for an educational area, which are submitted respectively by three artists, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Tobias Rehberger and Massimo Bartolini, all selected for the 53rd International Art Exhibition, directed by Daniel Birnbaum.

10-UNIT SYSTEM is a novel furniture concept designed by the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban in 2009. The fully modular system is based on L-shaped units that can be combined in all sorts of ways to make furniture – a chair, a table, a bench. Putting furniture together and disassembling it is made easy by the ingenious yet simple design. The standard colours of the 10-UNIT SYSTEM are black and white; other colours are available on request..
