Accessibility Statement

Artek oy ab is committed to making its digital services accessible in accordance with the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019). This accessibility statement applies to the website artek.fi and was prepared on August 18th, 2025. The assessment of the website’s accessibility status was carried out through self-evaluation.

Compliance Status

This website is partially compliant with Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 due to the non-compliances listed below.

Current Accessibility Status

Although the website is older and has not been fully optimized, initial improvements have already been implemented:

  • Consistent focus indicators for keyboard navigation
  • “Skip to Content” button for improved navigation
  • Helpful title attributes
  • Descriptive alternative texts for a number of images
  • Improved accordion functionality, compatible with screen readers

However, some barriers still remain, including but not limited to:

  • Partially insufficient color contrast in text and interface elements
  • Certain features (e.g., “Compact Home Office”) are not fully operable via keyboard and screen reader
  • Some form elements lack labels
  • Missing ARIA attributes which would be required to improve screen reader support
  • Some moving images start playback automatically and cannot be stopped

Improvement Strategy

We are aware of the existing limitations and plan to gradually improve accessibility, prioritising known problematic areas (e.g., color contrast, form elements, ARIA attributes). We will update this statement once we make further significant changes.
