Artek and Heath Ceramics return with Tile Table collection
The continuing partnership anchored in craft unites wood and clay, further expanding the design collaboration
Artek and Heath Ceramics bring their long-standing collaboration to a wider global audience in 2026, with a new series of Tile Tables that combine Alvar Aalto’s iconic wood bending with Edith Heath’s inimitable ceramics. Each tiled tabletop is finished in a tonal range of reds, greens, or whites, drawing upon Heath’s long history of glaze experimentation. As with past collections, unique keystone tiles signify the handmade nature of the collection.
The continued partnership between the two makers speaks to the shared values that run through Artek and Heath: beauty, utility, integrity, and longevity. Both companies’ design philosophies are based on a deep respect for the innate human qualities found in natural materials.
Artek + Heath Tile Tables
The Artek + Heath Tile Table Square is a 44 x 44 cm side table featuring square Heath tiles, suitable for use beside sofas or in hallways.
The Artek + Heath Tile Table Rectangular is a larger coffee table, measuring 109 cm in length and featuring rectangular tiles. It can act as a centrepiece in living areas or along the edge of a room.
The Green+ and White+ glazes return after selling out within days back in 2022. This year, they’re joined by a fetching new Red+ colorway, featuring a series of terracotta-toned glazes inspired by the rugged California landscape.
The tiles represent a shared language between Artek and Heath, drawing inspiration from each brand's environment and nodding to the Aaltos’ architectural works. Each table combines several tonal tile glazes, creating an interplay of colour and texture. Alongside the natural variation that defines Heath’s handmade tile—slight fluctuations in both glaze and shape, essential to the perfectly imperfect beauty they embody—each tile is chosen and arranged by hand, ensuring that every table is truly one of a kind.
As with previous Artek + Heath collections, each table features a single dual-glaze keystone tile that serves as a “maker’s mark”, adding a point of visual interest and acting as a reference to the production year. This year’s keystone tiles feature a unique circular mark to differentiate them from past collaborations.
Artek + Heath Chess Table
A new addition to this year’s collection is the Artek + Heath Chess Table, consisting of a Tile Table Square accompanied by a fully hand-crafted set of ceramic chess pieces.
True to the shared design ethos that links Heath and Artek, each hand-thrown, hand-glazed chess piece serves a second function: small openings at the top allow them to be used as soliflore vases in between matches.
The black-on-black tiles offer a low-contrast alternative to the traditional chessboard, placing emphasis on the glazed ceramic pieces. Just six chess sets have been made, making them rare collectors’ pieces that combine expert craftsmanship with playful creativity.
