Artek launches Lento lounge chair and side table

ARTEK LENTO COLLECTION -  design Harri Koskinen 2006-2011

“Lento means flight and its design can be associated with lightness and airiness.”
Harri Koskinen

Lento expresses the subtle design idiom arising from Nordic modernism. Koskinen’s designs are sensible, argued and uncompromisingly elegant. Harri Koskinen (b. 1970) is an independent voice in design. One of the world’s best-known Finnish designers, Koskinen has won several awards over the years, the most significant being the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize, a Swedish honour that was bestowed on Koskinen in 2009 for his design work, and the Compasso d’Oro Award in 2004, one of the design world’s most prestigious recognitions. Koskinen’s works have been presented in numerous exhibitions worldwide.

Koskinen’s Lento for Artek is a project which began as far back as 2006 with a chair. Koskinen wanted to design a series of wooden furniture that would be both lightweight and affordable. In 2009 the series was complemented with a table and an upholstered chair. The new Lento lounge chair and side table are the latest additions to the product family. An upholstered version of the lounge chair is also available.

Harri Koskinen’s design language is characterized by practicality and an uncompromising aesthetic. He searches for clarity and innovative solutions that meet the needs of the consumer and the manufacturer alike. Lento is a graphic product family, but also pleasantly anonymous. It is equally suited for public places and private homes.
