Stool 60 Seireeni

Quick Links
This edition of Stool 60 features Maija Isola’s Seireeni (siren) pattern, created in 1964 and inspired by the movement of water during her travels in Greece. The pattern’s name recalls the mythical sirens whose songs lured sailors at sea. Using a marquetry technique, the pattern is applied to the birch veneer seat, where contrasting wood grains create a shimmering effect. The interaction of light, pattern, and material brings the design to life. Part of the Artek + Marimekko collection, this stool is made from responsibly sourced Finnish birch at Artek’s Turku factory.
The stool celebrates what unites two iconic Finnish brands — bold and distinct identities shaped by architecture, nature and human-centric pragmatism. It reflects Artek and Marimekko’s pursuit of long-lasting design, and the marquetry production process minimises wood waste.
