Artek and Hender Scheme come together at Paris Fashion Week to announce a collaboration that brings together two distinct craft cultures from Finland and Japan. An exclusive event is to be held at a gallery space in the Marais on 24 June, presenting an upcoming collection of furniture and accessories that explores how natural materials age gracefully over time.

Artek and Hender Scheme share a focus on raw materials, allowing their inherent qualities and natural imperfections to remain visible. A dialogue runs through the upcoming collection: vegetable-tanned leather features in place of Artek’s usual surface material, while classic Aalto organic shapes are reinterpreted through the lens of Hender Scheme’s material expertise.

The new collection will be unveiled at an exhibition held at Vitra’s Tramshed showroom in Shoreditch during London Design Festival. The exhibition will be open to the public from 15 to 19 September, offering a first opportunity for a wider audience to encounter the Artek + Hender Scheme collection in a dedicated setting.

The collection will then go on global sale on 10 October.
