Ceiling Light A622

Designer: Alvar Aalto

Year: 1953

This timeless and elegant design is popular in both public buildings and private homes. With structural echoes of Alvar Aalto’s other lighting designs, its shade consists of thin metal sheets arranged in a staggered circular formation. Designed as a ceiling light, the A622 mounts directly onto the ceiling and can be switched on via a wall switch. Created for the National Pensions Institute, Helsinki in 1953, Ceiling Light A622 casts a soft, diffuse light.
