Artek was founded in 1935 in Helsinki to “sell furniture and promote a modern culture of living by exhibitions and other educational means.” Today, Artek’s range consists of design classics by Finnish masters such as Artek founder Alvar Aalto and Ilmari Tapiovaara alongside recent additions from leading contemporary designers. The collection comprises furniture, lighting, textiles and small accessories. Combining modern production methods with expert handcraftsmanship, Artek furniture is manufactured in keeping with the original vision of Alvar Aalto. The majority of Artek products is made in Turku, Finland, the city where Artek furniture has been manufactured since the beginning.


Vitra, a Swiss family business, was established in 1953. The Vitra collection consists of design items of the highest quality, suitable for homes and public spaces alike. Vitra’s design philosophy envisages home furnishing as a living collage, bringing together old and new to create an ensemble of the classic and the contemporary. Each Vitra product is an original piece and has its own story. Vitra designers include Charles and Ray Eames, Jean Prouvé and Jasper Morrison, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and Hella Jongerius. The Artek Helsinki store carries the largest selection of Vitra in Finland.


Founded in 1938, Knoll is a globally-recognised furniture maker. The Knoll collection, equally at home in public and private spheres, includes classics of modern design by designers such as Eero Saarinen, Harry Bertoia, Marcel Breuer and Mies van der Rohe.


In 1949, Swedish architect and designer Nils Strinning designed the timeless String Shelf system. Since then, the String Shelf has gained enormous popularity all over the world. Offering an endless array of modification possibilities, String shelves are suited to any space, from homes to offices. With easy to install side panels and cupboards, drawers, pigeonholes, hooks and shelves available in various lengths and sizes, the String shelf is an adjustable, versatile storage solution.


Founded in 1928, the Japanese brand Maruni creates beautifully simple wooden furniture. Since 2010, Maruni has been working with art director Naoto Fukasawa to establish the collection internationally as a brand of distinctively Japanese furniture. Furniture by Maruni is skillfully made, bringing together the highest quality materials with Japanese aesthetics, handcrafting with timeless design. Maruni designers include Naoto Fukasawa, Jasper Morrison and Harri Koskinen.

Piet Hein Eek

Piet Hein Eek is one of the best-known designers in the Netherlands. Notable for creating furniture made of waste wood and other recycled materials, his designs aim to maximise the use of raw materials. All Piet Hein Eek products are made by hand in the designer’s own workshop in the Netherlands.

Serge Mouille

Serge Mouille (1922–1988) originally studied to be a goldsmith but is best known for his elegant lighting fixtures. The items in the Serge Mouille collection are made using the same moulds, high quality materials and techniques in use in the 1950s. The lighting fixtures are made in small annual batches in their shop outside Paris, and each product is marked with a stamp and a unique serial number.


Woodnotes is a design company known for an uncompromising approach. Its products reflect the essential qualities of Finnish design: simplicity, harmony and practicality. The brand specialises in working with spun paper yarn, an authentic, natural material manufactured ecologically. Artek carries Woodnotes items such as rugs, curtains, blinds alongside smaller accessories.


Manufactured since 1889 at their factory in Kinna, Sweden, Kasthall’s woven, hand-tufted rugs are all unique pieces made to order according to customers’ wishes. The rugs are made from the highest quality natural materials, in both wool and linen.
