13/08/2012
Innovative and original Finnish design companies and their products – lamps, ceramics, fashion, furniture, fabrics, and rugs – are exhibited, along with a taste of delicious coffee and chocolates.
Rautatalo’s Marmoripiha, where the event takes place, has been with its cafe a favourite place of urbanites for decades. Artek, Artek’s gallery, and Marimekko have all operated in Rautatalo, a building designed by Alvar Aalto in 1955. The legendary café will also operate during Helsinki Design Open. In addition to becoming acquainted with Marmoripiha, visitors have the possibility to see the art collections of Art Foundation Merita that are usually not open to the public.
Drop by Marmoripiha to discover new design, enjoy excellent coffee, get acquainted with the art treasures and architecture of the house, or hear the lunch talks on design during the days of the exhibition.
Check out the programme and visit us. We hope that your visit is a wonderful experience!
